Evergreen Mountain Lodge

The investigative journalist in me was impressed by the attention to detail. Great story, great stay. The views are headline-worthy.

An inefficient and rustic establishment. The lack of modern amenities is appalling. The only redeeming quality is the isolation.

Too dry. And too high up. I missed the ocean. The hot tub was okay, but it's no substitute for the sea.

A different kind of beauty than I am used to. The snow was fascinating. The lodge was warm and welcoming.

Keeping up with my husband is tough, but this lodge was the perfect place to relax while he zipped around. Beautiful and peaceful.

The view of the stars from here is almost as good as it is from space. The green lantern-like glow of the aurora was a bonus.

Right then. It kept the beasties out for the night, so it gets a passing grade. Could've used a better lock on the door, though. You never know.

The archery range was a bit basic, but the wilderness survival opportunities were top-notch. A bullseye of a location.
